The office of Maurer United is closed from July 23rd to August 5th, 2012. In the meantime, the entrance of the Gouvernement Provincie Limburg is being transformed.

Come back for new images of this design by Maurer United in two weeks!

Today, it is exactly 10 years ago, that the ‘MU Bowl’ was launched. This participation project was an initiative by MU and Maurer United and a coorperation with the Eindhoven University of Technology. During a workshop, lead by Marc Maurer, twenty students (half of them dedicated skateboarders) designed the perfect wooden skatepool. Specialists like Jocko Weyland and Marcus Kamps were involved in educating the designers during the process. It resulted in Europe’s largest wooden skatebowl of that time and put Eindhoven on the map for skateboarders around the world. After some years the bowl was relocated at Area 51 at Eindhoven Strijp S.

Most of the footage in the clip is shot by Mooniq at the original location on July 20th, 2002.

Dutch glossy “Puurzaam” published the idea of the Parkstad Model by Maurer United.

The transformation of the former laboratory of the Limburg Province Gouvernement into a flexible working space with silence office workstations, meeting- and presentation rooms has been completed. All non-structural walls were demolished and the building is reduced to its essence: a sculptural core and large wooden spans. The major renovation is attuned to the profound comfort and durability requirements of the province.

Today, the space inside has a simple and basic appearance, but it took some effort to transform it.

The original laboratory interior with all its walls and installations had to be removed.

The complete renovation including the other floors and restoring the facades took about a whole year.

There is Pecha Kucha, there is TEDx. In Aachen, they have their very own formula: Designersaufen. As Maurer United brews its own beer, Marc Maurer had to stop by at Aachen Raststaette to promote Loorberger Beer to the German audience. After the presentations of daily*interactive, down-to-mars and Maurer United the crowd switched to seriously ‘drinking to diversity’.
