The twelve stars of the flag were replaced by twelve pentagonal faces. These were positioned as in a regular dodecahedron, referring to Plato. On the suggested flag the solid represents Europe’s foundation of philosophy, science and culture and simultaneously the complex unity of the different states. The solid’s edges were transformed into infinite lines, emphasizing the relations and influences towards other states and cultures.

It is 10 years ago that Marc Maurer and Nicole Maurer introduced the PLAY theme to the architecture design field. This resulted into the exhibition ‘Playtime’ at Eindhoven MU and the publication ‘PLAY: Maurer United Architects’ at 010 Publishers in 2001. The picture was taken recently by Arjen Schmitz, at their home address in Maastricht – playing lego chess.

The Dutch Design Fashion and Architecture (DutchDFA) presented the results of her first years activities. The aim of DutchDFA is to promote dutch design in China, Germany and India during the next four years. MUA was asked to explain about their Shenzhen Medular Pavilion (partly sponsored by DutchDFA) and their experiences with building in China.
